We are excited to share two incredible honors for the Historic Lewes Farmers Market this year — recognitions that reflect the dedication of our volunteers, farmers, supporters, and the entire community that makes the Market possible.
DE Governor’s Volunteer Service Award and USA Today 8th Best Farmers Market

The HLFM has been selected as a 2026 Governor’s Volunteer Service Group Award recipient, recognizing the extraordinary collective impact of our volunteers. From setup crews and Market greeters to SNAP support, chef demo assistance, fundraising events, committee work, and more, our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do.
In 2025 alone, more than 200 active HLFM volunteers contributed over 6,700 hours of service. Many have been part of the Market community for more than a decade, with some volunteering since the very first Market 21 years ago. This award truly belongs to every person who has helped create the welcoming, vibrant community gathering place the Market has become.
We are also proud to share that the Historic Lewes Farmers Market has once again been recognized nationally by USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards, ranking number 8 on the 2026 Best Farmers Markets in the country.
Out of more than 8,600 farmers markets nationwide, the HLFM was selected by an expert panel as one of the top markets in the country before voters helped determine the final rankings. Competing alongside markets from across the nation, we are honored to represent both Lewes and Delaware on this prestigious list for the second year in a row.
These recognitions reflect the strength of our shared commitment to local food, preserving farmland, supporting farmers, increasing healthy food access, and feeding our neighbors. Most importantly, they celebrate the community that continues to show up for the Market year after year.
Thank you for being part of the HLFM community. We look forward to another wonderful Market season together.
